What is EFFE?
EFFE aims to be a portal for professionals and citizens to discover arts festivals in Europe.
EFFE’s overall aims are to increase access to Europe’s diverse festivals by providing key information on Europe’s arts and cultural festivals, and to enrich the festival landscape and European society by promoting trends in artistic excellence and innovation in festival production.
EFFE Label Application Closed
We would like to thank all of the 896 festivals that applied for the EFFE Label. Festivals from 32 different countries programming various genres showed interest to be part of the EFFE Platform. The festivals will be informed about the result of their application on 8 May 2015 by e-mail.
Why did you apply?
We are applying for the EFFE festival label as we feel this award will give recognition and valorise the last 23 years of outstanding festival work that showcases young emerging performers and artists from Europe, Africa, Latin America, Asia, the Caribbean and the Far East. The EFFE festival label would also enable us to attract new and additional sponsors and funders as it would represent an industry benchmark.
- Brouhaha International Street Festival, United Kingdom
The collaboration with the EFFE will enable the TFF to present a diversity of films that continue the tradition of recognized filmmakers that incorporate theater in their films and preserved the contexts of social, political and cultural realities, like films of Rainer Werner Fassbinder or Peter Greenaway. EFFE could help us establish ourselves as a recognized festival because of its innovation and our goal to be accepted as an intercultural event that will enrich the cultural landscape.
- TFF (TheaterFilmFest), Germany
Imaginarius regards EFFE as an extraordinarily important tool for the internationalization of festivals, bringing new partnership opportunities at a European level and boosting transnational connections and creations. We at Imaginarius believe that becoming an integrated member EFFE will provide us with the opportunity to extend our visibility and recognition, as well as to extend our communication network and improve the quality of our programming, within a European context.
- Imaginarius - International Street Theatre Festival, Portugal
We trust that the EFFE Festival Label will further strengthen leading theatre festivals in northern Europe. We currently have a lot of visitors at our festival, but a wider European visibility through EFFE would be warmly welcomed.
- Tampere Theater Festival, Finland
The European Union continues to support festivals in all EU Member States. Investing into festivals, and thus into artists and audiences alike, is crucial in our cultural policy vision. EFA’s strong proposal was chosen because EFFE will increase citizens’ access to the arts and culture, allow artists to reach out to audiences all over Europe, and promote cultural diversity. I am glad to work with EFA on this first European Platform, a new strand in the European Commission’s new Creative Europe programme in place for 2014-2020.
