EFFE is a portal that connects festivals that are deeply committed to the arts, their local communities and Europe. The portal invites audiences worldwide to access up-to-date festival information and participate in festivals across Europe. Above all EFFE recognizes the immense excellence of these festivals in their daily work all across Europe. All EFFE Label and Award winners feature on the portal as well as in the EFFE Guide.

In the next few months festivals all over Europe will get the chance to apply for the EFFE Label 2017-2018, demonstrating their quality and devotion to the EFFE Label values: artistic commitment, community involvement and a festival’s international and global outlook. National experts, appointed by festival hubs all over Europe will score the applications and present the findings to a high-level international jury. By May 2017 the EFFE Labels will be made public on www.effe.eu.

In the next months the members of the International Festival Jury will be announced. They will identify festivals that are recognized inside and outside their countries as standard setters for quality for the EFFE Award. The next EFFE Award Ceremony will take place in September 2017 and will be hosted by a renowned European Festival.

The former International Jury President Vincent Baudriller, current director of Théâtre Vidy in Lausanne and former director of the Avignon Festival, underlined the essence of EFFE: “For the jury, the endorsement of European festivals provides the opportunity to recognize cultural events of all sizes, each operating in its own country, at its own level and in its own chosen discipline in the defense of creativity. These festivals not only ensure the circulation of cultural projects, they also take the risk of creation, engage in productions, support artists and have international ambitions in their programming. Through the gatherings and flows of people mobilized and facilitated by festivals, they are a very concrete realization of the Europe of culture.”
