Festival das Artes is a multifaceted arts event that takes place in the award-winning grass amphitheatre of the Quinta das Lágrimas historical gardens. Music, dance, theatre, cinema, conferences and gastronomy enliven Coimbra during 12 days and nights in July. By day, fine art and photography exhibitions, jazz on the river and a diverse educational programme all help to celebrate the chosen theme. Launched in 2009, Festival das Artes has become the leading cultural event in Central Portugal.
Athens Digital Arts Festival (ADAF) is an annual International Festival that takes place every May in the historic center of Athens with the aim to bring together the digital arts community with the broader audience. The festival was established in 2005, under the title Athens Video Art Festival, as an initiative of the non-profit organization Multitrab Productions. Back then, digital arts were an unmapped field, with diverse possibilities to flourish and the Festival's goal was to connect all means of creative expression and promote creativity through all contemporary mediums.
The annual Athens International Short Film Festival Psarokokalo is part of a project to research, promote and develop the art of filmmaking. The programme includes screenings of short films from Greece and abroad as well as audiovisual events, masterclasses, exhibitions, concerts and the audience award. In 2015 89 short films from 35 countries were shown. Through the quality of its screenings and side events the festival has become a reference point for cinephiles, filmmakers and professionals.
