THEALTER in Szeged is the oldest international theatre festival in Hungary and the most important forum for Hungarian independent theatres. It is a unique event of real tradition, characterized by renewal, innovation and fresh perspectives. Since 1991 nearly 170 theatre groups from more than 30 countries have presented their performances here, many for the first time in Hungary. The younger generations play an important part in the festival, too, both as theatre-makers and as audience.
Romaeuropa Festival since its beginning in 1986 has always fostered international cooperation and the dissemination of contemporary creation and cultural diversity by great European artists and performers. The festival presents the latest developments in the international performing art scene, focusing on all those artistic languages that challenge the concepts of genres through the potent means of art. An atmosphere of exchange between audiences, artists and cultural organizers is integral.
Having been held every two years since 2000, the panoptikum festival has become a popular event exploring the wide range of children’s theatre coming out of Bavaria and elsewhere in Europe. It’s a place to meet theatre professionals and festival organizers from Germany and beyond and enjoy Nuremberg’s hospitable festival atmosphere. Panoptikum is organized by Theater Mummpitz and presents 10 productions from at least 7 European countries plus 10 Bavarian productions for children aged 4 to 12.
