MOT International theater festival, is organized for the first time by the Youth Cultural Center in May,1976. The main abbreviation of the festival's name comes from MLAD (Young), because it is created by young and thriving authors, OTVOREN (Open), because it does not kneel to the “old” and “numb” theatrical patterns, and TEATAR (Theater) because it deals with our objective reality. MOT is a festival that offers panoramic presentation of diverse performances that deal with experimental and contemporary forms, the ones that express of the dominant currents in the theatrical life in our time. In addition, the festival acts as a catalyst of a new theater expression, struggling for a radically new theater audience and acting towards the creation of the contemporary cultural values. Within its 40th years of existence, MOT has shown more than 800 theater productions from more than 60 countries around the world.
