Founded in 1948, Festival International de Musique de Besançon is one of France’s oldest and most respected music festivals. Although it programmes recitals and chamber music, the symphonic repertoire embodies the festival’s true spirit, drawing great conductors such as Cluytens, Schuricht and Dutoit. This reputation was bolstered in 1951 with the international competition for young conductors, which quickly became the most prestigious event of its kind and has launched many conducting careers.
The Atlantic Coast International Music Festival is a symphonic music festival of international scope. The two-week-long program is all about music, professional training, youth and friendship with people from different countries. The Festival offers an extraordinary and intense musical training program, designed to contribute pedagogically to the development of a professional career, as an orchestra musician, as soloist or conductor. It is dedicated to offering an inspiring artistic experience for every person who performs or attends.
