Kalvfestivalen is an annual festival for new and experimental music in the classic Western tradition. It takes place each year in August in the small village of Kalv in the south of Sweden, in an enchanting and peaceful landscape of lakes and fields. A typical concert might be a performance of R Murray Schafer’s “Music for a Wilderness Lake”, with a trombone ensemble playing while floating on a small platform in the lake at dusk. Or a string quartett playing in the church. Or sound installations on a pilgrims walk in the woods. Workshops might include instrument building followed by a concert. We also have exhibitions, workshops and seminars for professionals and for the audience.
