Thematic tours, cultural itineraries and workshops are interwoven with dozens of musical performances.
The Festival started at 1993 as a new type of summer festival in Czech Republic, which put together music on several stages, theater performances, films, exhibitions, author’s reading and other events. Characteristic for the festival is openness to all kind of culture which historically met in this region and building an atmosphere of tolerance and respect to different cultures. The festival is dedicated to Jewish quarter of Boskovice, unique architectonic monument,.
The International May Choir Competition is named after the eminent composer and professor Georgi Dimitrov (1904–79), founder of the Bulgarian choral conducting school. In the 35 editions so far over 500 choirs from 50 countries have taken part. The festival promotes Bulgarian and European choral heritage from different eras and styles to a wider audience. One Bulgarian song is included in each category, and there is a special prize for the best performance of a Bulgarian song by a foreign choir.
