The Bratislava Music Festival is the most important music festival in Slovak Republic. The festival takes place in the capital Bratislava in the break of September and October. The festival lasts more than two weeks and within the festival programme 20 until 30 concerts are performed.
The Bratislava Music Festival focuses two aspects. The presentation of prominent foreign orchestras, prestigious soloists and excellent conductors. The 53rd year of the festival in 2017 will offer for example Wiener Philharmoniker with Zubin Mehta, the Mariinsky Orchestra with Valery Gergiev and one of the most important contemporary pianist Evgeny Kissin to name just a few. The prominent Slovak conductor Juraj Valčuha Slovak has been a regular host of the festival. The53rd year of the festival will start with the resident orchestra the Slovak Philharmonic under the baton of their future chief conductor James Judd.
